Jerry West passed away at 86 on June 12th 2024. He had a life of success especially in the NBA where he was a Hall of Famer, one of the leading scorers of all time in NBA History, won a championship with the Lakers in 1971-72 season and also mentored multiple stars in the NBA after he retired, most notably Kobe Bryant.
He also was an executive in the NBA and a coach. He had a coaching record of 145- 101 and he also was a very successful executive.
I wish some of my favorite teams growing up like the Houston Rockets or Toronto Raptors had him as an executive years ago.
That being said let's get into the Gematria and numbers connected to his passing.
Jerry West at University of West Virginia |
Let's take a look at some of the success I was discussing earlier. Here is a snippet of his college stats, the link for this is at the bottom under "Links".
Jerry West career with the Lakers was legendary.
The Lakers themselves were a franchise which was struggling prior to the days of the NBA, moving to Minneapolis or even wearing that "Blue and Gold" they were famous for at the very beginning before it was the classic "Purple and Gold" we know them for today, more on this later.
For how this "birth of the Lakers" impacts Jerry West's success and his passing we have to go back to 1947.
13 years before Jerry West was drafted, so when he was 9 years old, the Lakers became a franchise.
The Lakers started off as the Minneapolis Lakers after the purchase of the "Detroit Gems" on June 4th 1947. The same year the CIA was founded on September 18th 1947.
However the NBA itself got started on June 6th 1946 as the BAA, or the "Basketball Association of America" which seems like it nearly folded after its first two years :
It took 52 weeks for the "Basketball Association of America" (predecessor to the NBA), to go from being created till the "Detroit Gems" were sold after their first and only year, to Bennie Burger for $15000 to become the "Lakers".
The struggling BAA at that time needed more talent as the NBL was crushing them in that department.
The NBL was another basketball league which had much more clout than the BAA as the NBL was founded in the 30s while the BAA was founded less than a year ago back 1946.
The first ever BAA (NBA) draft took place on July 1st 1947 in Detroit, Michigan just 27 days after the sale of the "lackluster Detroit Gems" took place, who went on to become the historic "Los Angeles Lakers".
Quick recap here:
1. Detroit Gems played one season (1946-47), finishing 4-44 then sold their franchise off to Ben Burger for $15000 on June 4th 1947 who then became the Minneapolis Lakers, later "drafting" the #1 star talent of that era in George Mikan.
2. BAA (NBA) was struggling in 1946- 47 and nearly folded itself prior to the first ever BAA (NBA) Draft on Canada's Day, July 1st 1947.
3. This all happened in the same year the CIA was founded.
For Reference:
By the time that Jerry West got there it was also the very first year of the Lakers franchise moving to Los Angeles.
Enter Jerry West:
Fast-forwarding 13 years and we are told Jerry West was drafted to the NBA on April 11th 1960, 47 days before his birthday on May 28th 1960.
During that same summer of 1960, Rome held the "1960 Summer Olympics from August 25th till September 11th 1960.
He was already a Gold Medalist and if you know your "Retro NBA Stars" well enough, this list above encompasses the best-of-the-best at that time. How do you go from drafted to Olympic Gold Medalist in 5 months and 0 days?
Jerry West's NBA Career: A Glimpse
Jerry West last game and the day he retired was on April 7th 1974 or 4/7/74
Before we conclude his career, lets take a look at when he was paired with the Legendary Wilt Chamberlain.
CIA - Jerry West - Wilt Chamberlain Connection - CIA:
Jerry West was 11000 exactly when Wit was traded to the Lakers (West's 9th Season).
The franchise changing trade for Wilt Chamberlain also came 330 days from the anniversary of the Lakers becoming a franchise.
The Wilt Chamberlain trade also happened 7600 exactly from the founding of the CIA.
Wilt Chamberlain use to play for the Philadelphia 76ers right before he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1968.
There is that 114 again, just like his last game played ever against the Bucks in 74' where the Lakers lost 114-92 ending their playoff run that year.
Wests championship till Mikan's birthday that year, Mikan was 47 when West won the championship that year.
From the time that West won the championship till when he retired was a span of exactly 700 days. Another way to put that would be 23 months or 100 weeks exactly no days remaining.
Another way to typically write 700 days is 1 year and 48 weeks.
West was born on the 28th of May and so that 148 symbolizes his birthday as May 28th is generally the 148th day of the year.
The George Mikan - Jerry West Connection:
These two Geminis are connected to the hip as well. George Mikan for all who are not familiar, was the "Shaq" for the Lakers before Shaq was born. He led the charge for them ever since the 1948-49 season (although signed in summer of 47') and retired from playing in the late 50s winning championships along the way.
George Mikan went onto be commissioner of the ABA league, a rival league to the NBA which eventually merged into the NBA during Jerry Wests playing days in the 60s and 70s.
They both played for the Lakers during back to back eras of one another and their numbers are very much intertwined.
These two back to back Laker Legends are 5093 days apart birthday wise.
Reducing 5093 to 593 you get the 108th prime number.
A much simpler way to find a connection between George Mikan and Jerry West's birthdays is just realizing they're only 22 days apart.
This is the span between the Detroit Gems being sold to become the Lakers till Jerry Wests passing.
Days between their deaths - next year their date numerology will be 16 Between Kobe's Passing and Jerry Wests Passing |
